Sustainability in Landscaping Table Talk will be hosted by a team of experts from the APLD California - Los Angeles District. This discussion creates space for designers and industry professionals to examine what sustainable practice really looks like in Southern California and beyond.
The conversation will cover a wide range of sustainability considerations - from the role of native and climate-adapted plant species to water efficiency, soil health, and long-term ecological resilience. The APLD team will also explore the principles of sustainable landscape design in a broader sense: how to balance aesthetics with environmental responsibility, how material choices influence a site’s lifecycle impact, and how shifting climate conditions are reshaping design decisions.
This session is designed to encourage honest, peer-led dialogue. Attendees are invited to share experiences, challenges, and practical solutions as the group considers how the industry can evolve toward more resilient, environmentally sound landscapes. Additional Table Talks will be added soon as hosts and topics are confirmed.
