As a young man, Terry Morrill earned pocket change mowing lawns. Now, the founder of Pacific Outdoor Living, he has a thriving, $35 million business creating high-quality landscape designs. His career path between the lawns and the landscapes, however, was a long and circuitous one. Terry studied architectural engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, then hit the road in search of his life’s purpose after graduating in 1968. Over the years, he sold copper pipes, ran a bicycle company, started an internet venture business, and got into real estate development during the 1980's and early 1990's. In the aftermath of the Northridge earthquake of 1994, however, Terry’s real estate ventures were brought to a premature ending, leading him to his next venture of acquiring a paving stone company called Pacific Pavingstone. That company eventually morphed into a full, luxury landscape design & build firm called Pacific Outdoor Living, currently generating $35 million in annual revenue. Today, with his new venture, Pacific Outdoor Living Academy, Terry is codifying the systems and processes that helped him scale his landscape design/build empire in an effort to help contractors everywhere learn how to reliably grow their contracting businesses.
