Micheal Bernier
Michael Bernier is the founder and lead designer of Michael Bernier Design, a premier landscape and exterior design firm based in Los Angeles, California. After a prolific career as an advertising Creative Director, Michael discovered his true passion while studying Landscape Architecture at UCLA, marrying his design expertise with his love for natural environments.
For more than a decade, Michael’s designs have brought to life his client’s vision for beautifully inviting and functional outdoor living spaces. His projects include private residences, schools, and commercial properties around LA, Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Malibu, Sonoma, and several locations throughout the United States and Mexico City.
Championing the gospel of outdoor living, Michael's exterior design is conceived from an intuitive ability to connect the architectural style of the home with the essence of the land on which it sits; resulting in relaxing environments that flow seamlessly from interior to exterior, specifically designed for his client’s needs and desires.
His projects have been featured in Atlanta Magazine, Landscape Architect, Metropolitan Home, Mid-Century Home, Pro Landscaper, Synkd, and The Outdoor Room.
Michael’s mission is to connect people back to Nature. “I want to show people that we are intimately connected to our environment, and the simplest way to do that is through the garden. People relax and breathe deeper when sitting peacefully in their tranquil gardens, they can feel their innate connection to Nature. Calm, content people make better choices, and better choices make for a better planet. I want to bring forth more beauty into the world, while inspiring and empowering others to discover their own creativity through authentic self-expression.”
Driven by this mission, Michael currently teaches an online landscape design course at Emory University and will soon be launching his own Think Outside Landscape Design Academy to educate both Landscape Professionals and Do-It-Yourselfers through online courses and workshops. Michael is now writing his first book on finding fulfilment by creating with Nature.
