Waterwise by Design: Rethinking Gardens for the Future Climate
01 Sept 2026
Seminar Theater
As water scarcity becomes an increasingly urgent challenge across California, landscape design must evolve. This panel explores how to create beautiful, resilient gardens using significantly less water—or none at all. It will examine the role of soil as the foundation of waterwise design, from improving structure and retention to supporting long-term plant health—and the impact of water quality on the soil. It will also cover regulations, the debate around plastic grass, and the use of native plants—all with the goal of building sustainable, future-ready landscapes.
